This course explores the structure and function of terrestrial, aquatic, and atmospheric systems, including the human actions that affect them. Topics include basic ecology; human population growth; cycles of carbon, water, and other matter; weather and climate; and the use of natural resources, in particular water and energy. The course will focus heavily on current environmental topics and includes a laboratory and field component.
