Astro-science is a course designed to get students thinking about the universe that we all live in. A wide range of issues will be addressed which will revolve around what present day research suggests about our solar system and beyond. Where did the moon come from? Why do sunspots seem to follow an 11 year cycle? What causes the seasons? Why do we see moon phases change each month and what causes them? Is it possible that there exists a "multi-verse" rather than in a single universe? These questions and more will be explored through high level thinking exercises and the viewing of cutting edge documentary movies. This topic is broken down into astro-science I and astro-science II. Astro-science I is devoted to introducing concepts while astro-science II is meant to go deeper into some of the strange concepts found in outer space. Both sections have a strong observational component requiring an extra effort to periodically return to school for evening star parties. All that is required for these courses is an open mind, a critical eye and a willingness to push one's personal boundaries.
