This course continues students’ study of world history, with an emphasis on the emergence of strong states, distinctive national identities, the development of new technologies and transformative ideas and, finally, the continuing development of global trade networks.
Welcome to sixth grade English! This year we will work on reading and analyzing a variety of texts, from Renaissance drama to more modern novels and poetry. We will look at the language, events, choices, values, knowledge, and actions that create plot and character development. In writing workshop we will work on organizing, drafting, proofreading and revising expository and creative writing pieces. We will study and perform Shakespeare’s As You Like It. We will occasionally do a collaborative project with History 6. This course will also emphasize vocabulary and the grammatical structure of the English language.
In this course, we will learn scientific principles that explain the physical world in which we live. In addition, we will focus on the development of analytical reasoning, scientific inquiry and problem-solving skills.
