This course introduces students to the rich and diverse collection of musicians, inventors, producers, and business people that have contributed to the development of popular music in America—pop, rock, rock & roll, it goes by many names. We will examine trends and influences, both musical and non-musical, that have shaped our musical culture. The goal of this course is to enable you to have a deeper understanding of American popular music, especially the music you enjoy listening to.
