This college-level course will lead you to a new appreciation for the biosphere, increase your enjoyment of the natural world around you, and stretch your abilities in ways that you may not even imagine. By the end of the school year, I'm sure you will look back on this experience with a sense of accomplishment and pride. So hang on tight, we are all going to be traveling this road together.
The goal of our course is to help you understand the natural world, and how organisms interact with their environment. This is done via laboratories, group work, interactive use of technology and your textbook. We will study the following: * start understanding the carbon compounds that our cells are made out of, and the characteristics of water. * Enzymes and start learning about the cell. * Types of cell, organelles, structure and function. * Cell transport and communication. * Photosynthesis and cellular respiration * Cell growth and division (mitosis and meiosis). * Heredity, DNA, RNA and protein synthesis * Evolution and classification * Organ systems, structures, functions and interactions
